About Heritage Motorcars Of Byram LLC

Heritage Motorcars of Byram (Jackson, Mississippi area) - owner Orlanda Shanks - makes repairs pleasant where other centers make them painful, per repeat customers.

Two serious failures: an Equus alternator-brakes-rotors job agreed at noon Friday that went wrong, and an insurance-check-cashed repair that sat two months and came back unrepaired. Heavy jobs need timeline contracts. Mississippi repair. Rated 3.9 across 7 reviews.

This is my second time having repairs done by Heritage Motorcars of Byram LLC, and once again, I am extremely satisfied with the service. Owner Orlanda Shanks consistently provides exceptional workmanship, professionalism, and attention to detail. Most recently, Orlanda worked on my 2014 Audi Q5 and did an outstanding job. The repairs were completed on time, and my vehicle was returned in excellent condition. His knowledge and expertise with Audi vehicles are second to none, and it’s clear that he takes great pride in his work. The fact that I’ve returned for a second repair says a lot about the trust and confidence I have in Orlanda and his business. If you’re looking for honest, reliable, and highly skilled automotive repair, I highly recommend Heritage Motorcars of Byram LLC. You won’t be disappointed.

Heritage Motorcars of Byram was amazing! When using other service centers, it is usually an unpleasant experience taking your car in for repairs... especially when you’re a woman that’s unfamiliar with the ins and outs of automobiles and you don't know the trustworthiness of the shop, what they quote, if you really need all the work done they say you do, etc. I can tell you from the first phone call to Heritage Motorcars to picking up the car, it was an awesome experience. I felt very confident that I would be treated fairly/honestly and I was not disappointed. Very professional, ultra polite and friendly! Without question, I would not hesitate to recommend this shop to anyone who needs auto work done.

I dropped my Hyundai Equus off at 12:00 p.m. on a Friday and was told it needed an alternator, brakes, rotors, and a fluid exchange. I agreed to a remanufactured alternator for $598 and $720 in labor (approximately $1,200 just for that portion of the work). I was told the part would be ordered and my car would be ready by Monday. On Saturday, I called to let him know I would be in school all day Monday for an exam. During that call, he told me the part would be in and the vehicle would actually be ready Wednesday. On Tuesday, I received a text from an unsaved number that simply said “distress alert again. There was no identification of who was texting. I genuinely thought it was spam because a professional shop would normally identify themselves. It turned out to be him. He later sent videos of two tires and attempted to sell me four new tires. Because my total was already over $2,000, I declined four and agreed to purchase two. He insisted the front tires needed to match and the rear tires needed to match for balance, and I agreed. He also stated he would handle the alignment. On Wednesday, I was told the parts had still not arrived and my car would not be ready until Friday. On Friday around 3:00 p.m., he said the alternator was in but the remove-and-replace was complicated. At 8:00 p.m., he told me the car was ready. I live two minutes away. As I was pulling up, he texted that the car had failed the test drive. When I arrived, the vehicle was making a loud squeaking noise it had never made before, the headlights were not working, and the trunk would not open. He stated the alternator he installed was faulty and caused a fuse to blow. I waited over an hour that night and still left without my vehicle. At this point I had been without my car for nearly two weeks, which was extremely inconvenient. Most updates were only given when I reached out first. He later stated he would go in Saturday to diagnose the blown fuse. I heard nothing and had to follow up. It was eventually confirmed he would get another alternator locally. I noticed the local alternators available were significantly cheaper than the original one I was charged for, but there was no price adjustment. He later informed me the positive cable from the alternator to the battery needed to be replaced and so he did that and added a $227 charge. I did not sign or authorize this repair beforehand. As a customer, I believe additional charges should be discussed and approved prior to installation. When I was told the car was finally ready again, I arrived and was asked to wait inside while he “closed a few things.” I waited over an hour while he was still under the hood. During that time he texted me something unclear. When I went outside for clarification, he had left. I called him, and he raised his voice and told me to “read the text and reply.” The message was difficult to understand due to incomplete wording. Being spoken to that way for asking a simple clarification was unacceptable. Throughout the process, I remained respectful because he was working on my vehicle. However, I felt spoken to in a condescending tone multiple times. The day after picking up my car, I took it to the Hyundai dealership for an oil change and was informed one of the tires was the wrong size. When I asked him, he stated he only replaced one tire and I charged just for that one, despite our agreement to replace two, and never told me which one it was that he replaced even when I asked through text and went in person. He admitted he did not perform the alignment nor get both tires fixed because he “didn’t have time,” even though he had my car for over a week. I also noticed a scratch on the front left side of my vehicle that was not present prior to dropping it off. In total, this experience involved repeated delays, installation of a faulty alternator, additional charges without authorization, incomplete agreed-upon services, incorrect tire sizing, and unprofessional communication. I cannot recommend this shop and strongly advise others to consider taking their vehicle elsewhere.

After having my car for two entire months after cashing the insurance check, they failed to repair my car. Upon receiving my car back the following sensor lights were on, that were not on prior to them picking my car up: - Transmission malfunction - ACC and Audi Braking Guard: Unavailable - Audi Active Lane Assist Unavailable: No camera view - Front Right Side Marker Light Error I specifically asked that they “DO NOT” put any aftermarket’s parts on my car. The grill was aftermarket and missing the emblem, the front bumper was not replaced, it’s still broken, it was only sanded and painted, you can still see the paint runs on the side. The camera on the front of my car is not fully intact as a result them cutting out pieces of the grill to insert the front camera. They failed to replace the claps or brackets on the underlining of my car, the guard came off while I was turning to park. Lastly after requesting an itemized receipt they failed to supply it or to return my original tag mount. They would not answer or return the phone calls of the insurance company or the claim adjuster, after taking so long to fix my car. They took soo long that the insurance company threaten to cancel my rental. Each time I reached out to him he feed me another lie: parts on back order, I’m out of town etc. After calling Audi of Jackson they confirmed that they could all of my parts ordered in 3 days! I will “NEVER” do business this place again.
