About Speedemissions, Inc.

Speedemissions in the St. Louis area is a walk-in, first-come-first-served emissions and safety shop - one of the only ones in the region, which is the entire value proposition. At $24 for the last reported test price, the wait runs about 90 minutes at busy times and they tell you that up front. Arriving at 7:40am for an 8am open gets you near the front.

The negatives involve chaotic check-in (a locked lobby, yelling from the garage) and long afternoon waits, so go early and bring patience. Missouri requires emissions testing in St. Louis-area counties. Rated 4.0 across 740+ reviews.

Reported smog check price: $24.00. Prices can change; call to confirm.

The wait may be a little longer than you want but it is same day service. These fellas are polite and do the job right. I got there at 7:40am, they open at 8 am, I was 8th in line, and they had me out of there by 9:20am. Highly recommend if you are on a time crunch.

I will admittedly be extremely enthusiastic, even excited to urge anyone that reads this to do yourself a favor for real and take your vehicle here. They're not playing games here. Not making you wait, or holding your cars hostage or racking up a bill on you. Either it passes or it doesn't, and their preference is that it does. Even if it doesn't pass, you're going to get a straight description of what failed and what it needs to pass that you can bank on. They don't do repairs, and they don't refer repairs to anyone. Just legit inspections for the minimum requirements,at the state and or county mandated fee. I had a shop screwing me around and lying to me, I called Speedmissions on a Saturday at 11:00 a.m. and he asked me one question, what year is your vehicle. I answered, he said come on down. a few minutes after arriving and chit chatting with a couple customers. one of the owners took my information and keys after processing my card for $24 he pulled the car in, did the test and drove out the other side and around to where I was waiting. and that was it my paperwork was in the car and all I had to do was thank them for being honest and available, for having an awesome business model, and for not wasting a bunch of money on unnecessary flash and gimmicks. Just keeping it real all the way around. literally, the best business that I have been in in years, and I am proud to write this review for them, they deserve it 4rl!

This is the place to go if you need an emissions inspection without waiting for an appointment. First come, first served and they get you in and out quickly. Sign the clip board by the door when you arrive, and they will get you registered in short order. Very personable employees too. Beat place I have found, and I looked around a lot!

They live their value proposition. One of the only walk in services in the region. It took 90 minutes which was exactly what they told me. The waiting time depends on the number of vehicles but they are really hard workers. One car after the other , efficiently. Not fancy, just get the job done with no need for appointment.

The service I received was great, and I knew I would have to wait awhile… due to first come first serve basis. In comparison to other more traditional places, where you may have the option to go too. I find that this Mom, and pops shop, will get you in and out on the same day. Everyone there was respectful people, who work very hard to service your vehicle. I would highly recommend!

They are available for emissions and safety when most places are not. Went on a Friday. Limited parking. Not much instruction on how the process works... need to sign sheet hanging outside the business to get in queue. Once your group is called went fairly quick. 1.5 hrs wait time... have option to drop off and come back.

First time coming to this place. Front door is locked to the lobby... ok. I hover around open garage area and what id assume is the owner yells out to sign my name on a clipboard thats attached outside of the locked door. Sure fine. I assumed at this point I can go into the waiting room where there looks like 2 people waiting and someone at the counter to take my vehicles info. Before I could make it through the same guy yells at me to gtfo of his shop. Yeah never coming back for sure. Just watched someone else open the door to the lobby. Must have unlocked it after watching me struggle.

Been sitting and sitting inside for about 4 hours now. I've asked twice if I was skipped and they said you'll have to wait and see. I talk to them and they said that they called my name out but I was sitting inside the whole time and they never called my name. This is the worst speed and emissions place Ive ever experienced. I've been here twice so far and they are complete jerks. Have no respect and are a hostile atmosphere.

They name is misleading. SPEEDY EMMISSIONS is not fast and the wait is 2-3hours to wait. They do not have a system to let you know when is your car is next either. It is walk in only/no appts allowed. Only 6 chairs in the lobby, and 10 people waiting. I called 3 other shops and could not get in. Will not be coming back based on service very slow and the person working is rude.

I would not recommend this place. I typically don’t give reviews especially to a small business. But the encounter I’ve had with the office manager and the mechanic today 7/16 was horrible. So I took my car to this place last week and failed safety due to 3 things that consisted of wiring and headlights so I thought. I have a 2005 Chevrolet that has a light on the side of my car that is actually called a “side marker”. But on the inspection paper a corner turn light was placed on the comment. So after getting the front of my car fixed and wiring for lighting consisting of 300 dollars. I take my car back for a retest just for him to tell me I was going to fail again because the corner light hadn’t been fixed. The shop manager and inspection mechanic were both rude, uneducated and ignorant. The reason my car was failed wasn’t clear leading to putting in more work than necessary. To place the icing on the cake I found a mechanic to fix it later the day only to be told I would have to wait in line 2-3 hours for a reinspection when highway state patrol policy states it has to be ‘within an hour of bringing the car back’. The mechanic said ‘they as in highway state patrol doesn’t run things over here.’ Thankfully we called highway state patrol and an inspector called them and made them pull my car in same day. They were both uneducated and the cocky responses were unnecessary when they didn’t even have a clue of true policies. The mechanic and office manager would benefit in knowing what’s a side and corner as well. I will be reporting them to highway state patrol as I’m not the only one they’ve done this to & better business bureau. Just make an appointment and go elsewhere.
