An amazingly honest shop. I have a Fiat Spider, which is overall terrible for city driving. I hit a pothole hard and had a clunking noise after. I figured that I had messed up my suspension. They called to tell me that the suspension was fine, but that whoever had done my last oil change hasn't tightened the screws on my skid plate. I was expecting hundreds of dollars in repairs, and would have easily believed that something was very wrong. Instead, they charged me $45 to diagnose and fix. Would recommend them to anyone!
I trust this shop, i’ve been going for about 4 years now. They always give a fair price and get things done on time. So glad they’re in the neighborhood!! Michelle and Eric are great!
They have gone above and beyond with their service. We have taken all of our vehicles to them. Michelle and Eric are always honest and helpful. The work and customer service is top notch. Their prices are very fair and reasonable, too. Highly recommend.
Michelle was super quick to get my car in and diagnosed. She was very knowledgeable about the issue and honest about the next steps we could take to fix my car. Once we did, they were able to get my car back within a day! Great service.
This place is a neighborhood gem! Melissa is honest and I believe she truly wants to help people get the service they need at the most reasonable price. Her explanations are detailed and as even though I don't know very much about automotive repair, she breaks it down in a way that makes sense. As someone who lives in the neighborhood, I'm thankful to have this establishment. They have an old school sense of customer service that goes above and beyond. One thing to know is that they are busy (because they're awesome) so you will want to make an appointment for routine maintenance. That being said, they've been honest, flexible, and accommodating any time I've needed to add on for more than the routine appointment.
I've been bringing my car here for at least three years, and I have always had impeccable service and a great experience. Also, I really appreciate that they take the time to explain mechanical issues and make sure that I leave knowing more about my car then when I arrived. I have and will continue to recommend them highly, especially to other women. Best mechanics in the city!
I'm not going to say exactly what happened, but I just want to say i would never do business there again, and I recommend for anyone who has never repented, Go on YouTube, or read Mary Kay Baxter'sbook, The title is, a Divine Revelation of hell, that is a very powerful testimony that this lady shares, and it is guaranteed that everybody upon the face of this earth will stand before the Lord in judgment one day, and will give an account of their lives, that the Lord has given to them, 🙏👑🔥🔥🔥 and it is only two destinations, heaven or hell 🔥🔥🔥🔥
I’ve trusted St. Louis Hills Auto Service for years, which makes what happened over the last few months incredibly frustrating and disappointing. I brought my 2019 Chevy Trax in on September 23, 2025, for a check engine light (P0171). Over the next month, there was back-and-forth, repeated misdiagnoses, and repairs that never fixed the problem. Each time I got the vehicle back, the light returned within 24–48 hours. The shop replaced the intake manifold, valve cover, turbocharger, and MAF sensor — totaling $2,600. Near the end, I asked if it could be the purge valve, since it’s a known issue on this engine. The lead mechanic said there was “no way” because he had “checked everything up and down.” A few days later, it turned out to be the purge valve. On October 24, I was told the issue was fixed. It wasn’t. Then, on November 4, the car developed a major oil leak. I brought it back, assuming it was connected to their work. They told me the leak was from the oil filter housing and “completely unrelated” because their work had been “in front of the housing.” Without inspecting it thoroughly, the mechanic quoted $1,200 for the repair. The timing didn’t make sense. I researched and learned the turbo oil feed and return lines connect to that housing. When I asked the manager if the leak could be from those lines, she dismissed the idea. Instead, she offered a $400 “good customer” discount on a $1,200 repair — a repair that was caused by their mistake. I had the car towed to a Chevy dealership. They discovered the turbo oil feed line bolt had been cross-threaded into the oil filter housing during the turbo replacement. The dealership even sent a video showing the bolt wasn’t seated correctly. In other words, the leak was caused by St. Louis Hills Auto Service — exactly what I had suspected. I informed St. Louis Hills Auto Service of the dealer’s findings, hoping the business would show some integrity and work with me on a partial reimbursement. On November 10, I spoke with the manager, who said she would call me the next day with a resolution. That call never came. I finally heard back — not from the manager, but from the mechanic — on November 21, eleven days later. He told me he wished I had let them look at it instead of going to the dealership, because he “could’ve identified the cross-thread and fixed it for free.” I had to remind him that I DID bring it back because I believed it was related to their work, and that HE was the one who quoted me $1,200 — which is why I went to the dealership in the first place. He then said he had only given that quote based on his employee’s description, admitting he “should’ve looked at it closer” himself. So they quote expensive repairs without thoroughly inspecting the vehicle — and then act like I should have trusted them anyway. He said he was open to negotiating a partial refund. I requested $1,000. He told me he would discuss it with the manager and get back to me. Just like before… nothing. I was completely open to negotiating a fair middle ground — but negotiating isn’t possible when one side refuses to participate. Neither the mechanic nor the manager responded at all. Not one word. It’s been more than two weeks with zero response. After more than a month of misdiagnoses, dismissed concerns, a botched repair that cost $2,600 and caused new damage, broken promises, and repeated silence, I don’t feel respected or valued as a customer — and certainly not as someone who trusted this shop for years. I hate leaving negative reviews, but people deserve to know what happened. This experience was stressful, expensive, and completely avoidable. Based on everything I went through, I cannot recommend St. Louis Hills Auto Service.
