Northgate Auto Service

Had a nuisance car crisis (clogged drains allowing water to gush into my car after rains or going through the car wash) complicated by a hood latch malfunctioning…all the folks at Northgate Auto Service were quick to get me an appointment- spend time investigating - and cleaning out years of gunk from the drains (after fixing the hood latch cable.) All at a super reasonable price. Car stuff makes me feel way too vulnerable - Northgate Auto Service took care of it!!

This was my first time utilizing the service of Northgate Auto. I called to set an appointment. The call was welcoming. Made me look forward to the visit. Gave me the confidence I would be cared for. First began coming here off of a review I saw that described Northgate Auto as "Not the cheapest, but fair." I decided that I'd rather go someplace where I could trust in the quality of the service and that place is here. I've been coming here for years, for everything from regular service to electrical repair and each time my experience has been great. Kelly is always great at communicating around the appointments and Jeff is great at setting expectations when I come in around how long it might take to get work done. Most of the time they over-deliver and my car is ready before I expect, which is not an experience I have had in the past. They're honest folks and will even give me alternatives to the work I've requested if it's overly expensive or doesn't fully solve the problem I have. There was one occasion where something that was supposed to be fixed wasn't fixed and when I let them know after leaving the lot, Jeff had me come back, squeezed me in right before closing, got it fixed, and apologized for the prior work not being "up to their standard." I was very impressed. I'm happy to have found a shop that operates with integrity and will continue to bring my cars here. Highly recommend this place for anyone in the Durham area.

Wonderful experience and great people doing great work. Just be aware the booking an appointment on their website is for vehicle drop off, not your actual appointment time. I booked an appointment for 8am but my car wasn't actually serviced till 3pm. Otherwise, this is a great place local place!

Was given an appointment, I arrived about 11:05, out about 12:20 I had never been here before. Staff were friendly, professional. I was given an estimate of what charge would be for parts and labor, it did not change. When i asked about future service I may need, he promptly answered and I did not get the feeling I was bothering him. It's good to know I have a reliable honest place to take my car to that is close to where I live.

Great service! My horn wasn't working and I took my car in at 8am and it was totally fixed by 9:30am! Very quick turnaround. Also every employee I interacted with was very pleasant and kind. Will definitely be bringing my car back here again!

Northgate came recommended by several people online when I was searching for a garage to go to. And for good reason. They were nice, there estimates how long things would take were exact, and I was satisfied with the pricing. Their estimate for changing my transmission fluid was reasonable too. I’ll be back, I finally found a garage I trust.

I've taken our cars here several times over the last few years and have always been impressed by how kind, professional, and honest the folks are here. Kelly at the front desk tells you everything they're going to do up front, calls if they find something and lets you know the pros/cons and charges up front before they do anything, and is always patient and willing to answer questions from a non-car person like me. Highly recommended and happy to write a review for them.

I found Northgate Auto shortly after moving to Durham, and I'm so glad I did. The team is friendly and helpful, and I always feel confident that my car is in good hands with them. Also, they are very honest about service needs. They never made me feel pressured and even told me when I didn't need a service that I thought I did. I highly recommend trusting your car to Northgate!
