About Ohio E-Check
This Elyria-area Ohio E-Check site gets people through the self-serve kiosk and the BMV registration renewal in one stop, under ten minutes total for the fastest visits. Rob earns repeat customers with an upbeat attitude, and the older-car crowd describes the test as ten minutes of your life, free at state sites.
Know before you go: Ohio's rules changed in June, and newer vehicles may not need an E-Check at all - one driver made the trip from Amherst for nothing. The occasional gruff tester gets mentioned. Rated 4.1 across nearly 800 reviews.

Used the outside kiosk for my e-check, then went inside and used the kiosk to renew my registration. I was done in less than 10 mins. Loved it!
Hello everyone! Well, if you have an older car, you've gotta get this done. Ten minutes of your life. Help the environment. Help your car too. And it won't cost you a cent!
Been lucky enough to have Rob take care of me the last couple years I've gone there. Upbeat positive attitude quick service. No complaints. In fact of the matter is guy actually remembers me and I only see him once a year. You don't usually get that kind of care out of a government institution.
Amherst BMV said I needed an e-check for my 2020 vehicle. Drove from Amherst to Elyria for nothing. Didn't need an e-check because the law changed in June from 4 years to 6 years.
Guys there are helpful if you have an issue. Was able to use the self serve last time and got right through.
self e check was done within 5 minutes it was super easy. BMV sticker kiosk was a little slow and email input didnt work but overall a good experience.
No other cars were there. All employees seemed to care less about their job, shut this place down and put money towards improving roads.
Got my e check and the man that did it was just rude. All he did was bark orders at me. No greeting, no pleasantries, nothing. If you hate your job maybe find another one.
Had no engine light. Need an echeck this year. Said I should get this now, turns out my last one was just under a year ago. So the rule is you can get an check with in the year of it being needed. Long story short, argue about if they can do it, idles for over 30 minutes, finally plugs the thing in light goes on, people there are fine, just hate the whole thing.
Sorry, but everyone knows this place is a waste. Needs to close down and quit wasting people's time. I mean look around Lorain County, E Check is the least of their worries. Anyone that had to pay years ago should also be reimbursed for all the wasted money that went into it as well.
