Terry's Service Center in Nashville does the big jobs right - timing belt, water pump, shocks in one go, with after-hours pickup for working customers. David's crew gets called impeccable and honest, women dropping cars off alone say the staff makes it painless, and the shop once changed oil for single parents for free, which the neighborhood noticed.

Reported smog check price: $83.00. Prices can change; call to confirm.
Customer Reviews
RO # 104680 Very pleased with the service I received from Terry’s Service Center. I had extensive work done on my vehicle (timing belt, water pump, shocks and struts, the works). My service advisor, Reece, kept me updated in a timely manner and their pricing was much more reasonable than the dealership. I have peace of mind knowing that my truck will run smoothly for many miles to come.
I had a great experience having my Jeep wrangle fixed at Terry’s Service Center. The team took the time to make sure everything was repaired correctly. They were thorough, communicative, and clearly take pride in their work! Even better, the final cost came in much lower than their original estimate which speaks to their honestly and integrity. I felt confident my Jeep was in good hands. I would highly recommend this shop to anyone looking for a reliable shop. They also have a body repair shop that I will be utilizing in the future!
I’ve trusted Terry’s Service Center for years, and I can’t say enough good things about David and his crew. They consistently deliver impeccable work, honest recommendations, and fair pricing. Every time I bring a vehicle in, I leave confident the job was done right. Highly recommend to anyone looking for reliable auto repair in Nashville.
Terry's provided timely and successful repairs to our car. They were respectful and informative. We were able to pick-up our car after hours which was very convenient. Terry's will be our first consideration for any future repair work.
I would give more stars if I could! We have always had a great experience and professional service when dealing with Terry’s. This is more than our neighborhood service shop, it’s feels more like having a friend in the business. I recommend all of our friends and neighbors to Terry’s if you want your vehicle taken care of by the best folks who still provide southern hospitality in a big city location!
RO #102871 Terry’s Service is a great place to take your car. As a woman dropping my car off alone going to the mechanic is not always fun, BUT Terry’s staff was so, so sweet. They were happy to help me and answer any questions that I had. They were SO organized with private link they sent me listing the issues I had with my car. The estimate was very, very detailed so it was very clear the issues that needed to be fixed and why. The staff was strong with communication. They called everyday to give me updates on my car and they finished FAST! I couldn’t believe that I could get my car back in a week. I would drive across town again so they could repair my car. Thank you Reese, James, and the whole Terry’s staff they took care of my car!
I love this place. They changed the oil of single parents for FREE! I was so grateful. My oil light came on and so did my daughters. I told a single dad to go, I was excited for him, because people always give things to single moms and they never mention single dads. We didn't have the money to get the service, so this came right on time. We had food. drinks, hot dogs, hamburgers, chips, juice, water, sweet treats for the kids, chair massage. It made my day. I felt appreciated and the rest of my day was wonderful. The only issue I had was the directions were wrong. I went to AutoZone and they told me where to go. I just want to say Terry's Service Center thank you so much for giving us a free service. 🥰
Called and talked to Ronnie. Very nice very personable person however, what I got was not what I was promised on the phone. Told there would be $179 diagnostic fee. Told him what the problem was because I already checked it out myself, but was explained they have to do their own diagnostics, which I totally understand. However, since their price was actually higher than what I was quoted by dealer, I decided not to have the service done then all of a sudden the diagnostic fee jumped by $26 A “ special tool and hazmat fee” . I asked to explain this fee nothing but run around. There is no special used up tools to read the code reader, and definitely nothing hazardous Waste. In my opinion, this was simply to jack up the price a little more since I refused the service. Their work may be acceptable , but you are paying premium/Dealership service level pricing. As long as you’re aware of that, you’ll probably be OK. My advice is find a good local independent mechanic. Follow up 6/12/2026: Had the same work I was quoted by Terry for $1400 done at Christian Brothers for 795
Would not recommend this place and will not be returning. I have taken my jeep to Terry’s multiple times and have not had a positive experience, being charged 10s of thousands of dollars in total over the span of 3 visits. I decided to get a second opinion with my most recent concern and was relieved to know I would only need to pay $990 instead of $6,000+ for 1 issue instead of 10+ issues. Please go elsewhere (especially if you’re a young female)!
TLDR: Loose bolts could have killed my family. Terry's offers $10 gift cards for reviews, which is why you see so many glowing reviews, pay for praise. Continue to read on if you're interested in the whole story, photos included. I brought my wife’s vehicle to Terry’s Service Center for a non-working A/C. While in their care, they “discovered” an issue with the rear differential and strongly recommended immediate repairs. This significantly increased our total bill, but since we were already without a car, we agreed. That’s when the problems started. I had to chase Terry’s down repeatedly for updates. They ignored calls and didn’t respond to texts. When I finally picked up the car, the COO casually apologized for their poor communication — but that turned out to be the least of our problems. Less than a week later, my wife described the car as feeling “loose.” At first, I didn’t notice anything but soon after the rear end of the car was swaying so dangerously on the interstate that I had to pull off I-40 using my emergency flashers. The vehicle was not safe to drive. I took it to a trusted mechanic near my home. Two days later, they called to report that two bolts in the rear differential were loose — and one component appeared to have been either dropped or struck with force. I asked if it was something I could have done. The answer was a firm no: this was clear evidence of negligent work during the repair. I contacted Terry’s. The manager asked for photos (which I sent) and offered to pick up the car and “make it right.” I declined. Why? Because they already put my wife and two children in danger by not securing key components of the rear differential. I no longer trust them to touch our car again. Period. To their credit, they refunded the cost of their rear differential work — but that refund didn’t come close to covering what I spent at a real mechanic to ensure our vehicle was safe. And still — no apology. When I went in to pick up the refund check, a guy handed it to me with a “have a nice day.” That’s it. No responsibility taken. No acknowledgment of the risk they put my family in. Just a check. Also worth noting: nearly all of the glowing 5-star reviews for Terry’s? They’re incentivized. When you pick up your car, they leave a tag on your rearview mirror offering a $10 Starbucks or Chick-fil-A gift card if you leave them a review. That’s not customer satisfaction — that’s pay-for-praise. This experience wasn’t a minor oversight. It was a cascade of careless errors that could have had deadly consequences. Loose bolts in a rear differential aren’t an “oops.” They're a serious safety failure. I strongly urge anyone reading this: take your car somewhere else. I’ve attached photos showing exactly what Terry’s left undone — including bolts that are visibly gapped and unsafe. Don’t risk your family’s safety for a $10 gift card.
