Customer Reviews
If you're looking for upper-scale cuisine and service, go elsewhere. This is a Wawa for crying out loud. I mention this only because I am bewildered by the 1-star review I noticed. In fact, that review prompted me to write this one, based on the dozens if not hundreds of times I have purchased food and beverages at this particular Wawa. I have NEVER encountered or observed anything less than highly courteous and diligent service. Even at hours of the evening/morning when the clientele are somewhat erratic the employees here clearly take pride in providing prompt, attentive and usually cheerful service. The only friction I have ever observed arises out of the struggle by the store to maintain control over the crowd of car and motorcycle enthusiasts who always seem to aggregate in the parking lot after a certain hour on Fridays and Saturday. The staff is clearly reluctant to interfere with the friendly good times being enjoyed in the parking lot, but the congestion can be a problem. I give the staff a lot of credit for their reluctance to call the police to roust folks who are using the parking lot as a meeting place and remain present long after they have finished whatever they have purchased. Wawa's menu is extensive. For a period of months, I was working late almost every night and often found myself picking up dinner after 1:00 AM on my way home. The bread and ingredients in the subs (sorry - - I just will not call a sub a "hoagie", any more than I will consider calling soda "pop") are consistently fresh and tasty The staff are willing to accommodate reasonable special orders ("extra toast," for example). There are times when they run out of specific ingredients. Overall, however, I have seldom been unable to obtain whatever item which I happen to savor on any particular night. I have come to this Wawa in a business suit, in casual attire, and in full costume and makeup after an evening of performing at Brighton Asylum. I have always received the same level of courtesy and prompt service. I have always received service and food that makes me look forward to my next visit. I say this as somehow who DOES have considerable experience with upper-scale cuisine, both as a former chef and as a diner: the food here may not seem particularly sophisticated, but its consistency and flavorful character are actually an admirable achievement. I am, BTW, a meatball SNOB, based, in part, on my tenure in an all-night pizza-sub truck. The Wawa meatballs recipe is a lot lighter than many and offers what tastes like a combination of beef, some breadcrumbs obviously, and possibly pork or even chicken. Are they classic Italian meatballs? NO. They are Wawa meatballs. If you want classic Italian meatballs and a rich marinara sauce, you can get back in your car and find some places elsewhere in Lodi and Garfield. On the other hand, if you want a tuna melt at 2:00 AM, this is the place, and I would come here even if other places were OPEN at that hour in this neck of the woods that offered even half the warmth I feel when I enter this establishment.
I stop by the Wawa in Lodi every single day, and it never disappoints! Nayana is absolutely wonderful, always so helpful, kind, and ready to assist with a smile. Jacob is a rockstar! He’s constantly on top of his game, greeting customers with a warm smile and friendly conversation that makes the whole place feel welcoming. The coffee? Always hot, fresh, and just what I need to kickstart my day. And the team working in the deli section deserves a shoutout too, they consistently whip up delicious sandwiches that hit the spot every time. This Wawa is more than just a convenience store, it’s a place where great service, good vibes, and tasty food come together. Highly recommend!
Anything rated under 5 stars here is hard to believe. I come here all the time and still come here daily even after moving farther away. Best staff in this place , it’s literally why I only come to this one specifically. The staff is very welcoming and always assists. Always get the frozen matcha cream drink here 💚
It isn’t the cleanest Wawa I’ve been to, and the service is average / what you’d expect from a Wawa
We stopped here just to get coffee and water. It was very late, a little after 2 am. Honestly, it was a little scary inside because of the customers inside. Meanwhile, employees were in alert but calm, and it seemed like everything was under control, and nothing was out the normal, so that made us feel comfortable and safe. We love Wawa coffee. Had a good deal on bottled water. So, I believe this is a good Wawa location. Overall was fine experience. Lodi, New Jersey
I normally don’t leave reviews on google maps, but the service I’ve just received from this location was so absurd; I just have to share haha… At approximately 12:00 a.m. today, I visited the convenience store to purchase nicotine. When I arrived, there was a long line at checkout. There was no cashier present—only self-checkout machines were available. There were also no visible signs or notices indicating that the cashier register was closed or that customers should not proceed with self-checkout for nicotine purchases. I waited for several minutes expecting that a cashier would come over to assist or ring me up. When no cashier appeared, I assumed I should complete my purchase using the self-checkout stations. I positioned myself in the customer area behind the line where the cashier would typically stand, and there were no signs warning customers not to stand there or directing customers to a different location. I selected the nicotine item, took it to the self-checkout machine, and scanned the item to begin the purchase. The machine would not complete the transaction and displayed a message indicating that attendant assistance was required. I waited an additional 5–10 minutes, hoping an attendant/cashier would arrive so I could pay and leave. During this time, a bystander made a comment implying no employee was working and suggested I simply take the item and leave rather than wait. I responded that I was trying to purchase it properly and would never do anything so dishonest. Eventually, the cashier/attendant arrived—an older white male with white hair. I smiled and politely asked if he could assist me with ringing up my nicotine purchase so I could complete payment. As I held the nicotine out to him in an open, transparent manner while showing him what I needed to purchase, his reaction became immediately hostile. He looked visibly angry and loudly asked, “Where did you get that?!” I explained that there was no cashier present and no signage telling me I could not use self-checkout, so I scanned the item at the self-checkout machine after waiting for assistance. I was attempting to be clear about my intent to purchase. Instead of addressing my explanation, he dismissed it and began shouting in a combative tone. He told me, loudly, “Yeah, that’s nice, now you can get out of my store!” He also claimed that “the police are on their way” and accused me of stealing. He continued to repeat that the police were coming and ordered me to leave, escalating the situation while I remained calm and did not resist or argue. Because he was clearly upset and actively trying to escalate the situation, I did not want to prolong the confrontation. I left the store without incident. I believe the store should review security camera footage from around the time of the self-checkout attempt, since I was attempting to purchase the item and sought assistance rather than concealing anything. I want to emphasize that I did not have malicious intent or any intent to steal. I assumed I could complete the purchase via self-checkout because there was no cashier visible and there were no signs informing customers otherwise. If the store has rules requiring an attendant for nicotine at self-checkout, I believe those rules should be clearly posted at the point of sale so customers are not unintentionally placed in situations like this—especially at night when a cashier may not be readily present. I’m requesting that the franchise review what happened, including the self-checkout process, the signage situation, my behavior in line and at self-checkout, and the cashier’s accusatory statements and escalation toward involving the police.
Hey hope this makes it to the owner. An associate named Paul was extremely disrespectful to me. I came here on the 24th. This guys attitude really needs to be looked at. He also is unsanitary not wearing a face mask with a full beard. I can see hair all over his shirt. This guy needs to be fired
THIS IS THE WAWA EXPERIENCE IN LODI. To start things off the staff is horrible, they are rude and disrespectful to customers. Registers are left closed or unattended allowing only one register to be open for the whole store. In the parking lot they have caution tape blocking off most of the parking forcing me to wait for a spot to open up. Not to mention all the trash laying around outside being unattended. The bathrooms are a scene straight from a horror movie. Owners need to really sit down and reconsider how the wawa operates. Amazing location with horrible staff to accompany it.
Normally, when traveling I like Wawa gas stations. However, the customer service has plummeted recently at the Lodi, NJ location. I ordered a chicken sandwich from their deli and the man behind the counter refused to look at me when I asked if it was my order that was ready ( which it was my order), he ignored me for easily two minutes, while he just stood there and when he silently shoved my sandwich box to me it was covered in dirty, greasy fingerprints. It really ruined my appetite. And, it makes you wonder how clean the food is. I took photos of the box, as you can see. Also, they hide the straws for drinks behind a check out counter where nobody works, so you can't even get a straw, which is simply ridiculous. Straws should be near the drinks, as per usual, not hidden. I don't know why this place is being so weird. All the other Wawa's I've been to are much nicer and cleaner. Someone needs to sort this place out and hire proper staff.
