About Firehouse Auto Repair
Firehouse Auto Repair in Raleigh offered the lowest labor cost on a van alternator replacement with next-morning availability, takes care of people's mothers, and stands behind work at the best pricing regulars have found in the area. Dealership scare-quotes dissolve here.
The people skills lag the wrenching on some visits, and one exhaust diagnostic dragged frustratingly. One 1-star review is literally for Firehouse Subs, the sandwich chain - ignore that one. NC inspections and repair. Rated 4.3 across 340+ reviews.

My fiance, my daughter and I were in Cary moving things from my rental house when his truck had a bad shifter cable. We towed it here and they fixed it. We drove to Goodwill to drop off some more things when it broke again. They sent someone to fix it temporarily so we were able to drive it back to the shop. They ordered a piece that holds the cable and that really fixed it. They did not charge us for that second repair. We were able to get my daughter to her plane on time and we made the 2 hour drive back to his house. Very fast and friendly service.
Firehouse Auto offered me the lowest cost on labor to get my van's alternator replaced and were able to get me in the next morning. Great turnaround and excellent service. Thank you!
Honest mechanics are hard to find and when you do you DONT LET GO. I won’t ever let go of firehouse. Even after I moved I drive 30 miles to go here even for a simple inspection. They are the best at everything they do and even service my Audi with no question or difficulty. Update on my review after years of loyally: I love this shop and will go here as long as they allow me in the doors. They have saved our cars time and again and are still honest as the day is long.
These folks have really taken care of my mom every time. They back up their work, really turn around your vehicles quickly, and are the best priced I've seen in the area.
I love these guys! They are honest and dependable and stand behind their work. The dealerships scare you into believing you need a ton of service and maintenance that you don't really need and charge exorbitant amounts for everything. Firehouse mechanics only fix what truly needs fixing, and charge a fair and reasonable price to do so. It's no bells and whistles, no gimmicks, no pressure, just honest work. I won't take my car to a dealership for service ever again!
I'll give 3 stars for the expedited service + price they gave me. They had me in and out in less than 45 minutes, but the lack of customer service or people skills knocks a couple stars off. I'm new to NC so I was just asking questions about the emissions requirements and making a comment about what I had to pay for my truck registration living here since I have a fairly new truck w/low mileage - I was met with a curt response of "well get used to it, you're saving money living here". I won't be back.
I had some issues with my exhaust pipe and had them take a look at it; they told me I needed to go home and wait. Six hours later, they informed me they couldn't fix the car but still charged me a $92 base fee. It was a complete waste of my time and money. A response to the owner's reply: They do not have a queuing system in place—such as issuing sequence numbers—to track the order of arrival for customers. Clearly, the company's business process design is flawed. They conflated the issue of providing a quick estimate—which should have taken just ten minutes—with the lengthy wait for the actual repair. Ideally, they should have given me a clear quote within ten minutes or even an hour, including the base fee, so I could decide whether to wait. Instead, I waited six hours only for them to conclude that they couldn't fix the problem—yet they still charged me $92. Do you think that’s reasonable?
Accidentally gave this place 1 star - I meant to leave a 1 star review for firehouse subs. My bad. Unlike some people, I can admit when I make a mistake. I would've deleted it after noticing my mistake. But the response from the business was so rude, I've gotta say, their customer service seems like 💩. Won't be bringing either of my cars here.
I had a very frustrating experience with this shop. On October 13th, I brought my car in with a diagnostic paper for an exhaust problem from another shop. They said they ordered the part, but communication after that was terrible. I had to reach out multiple times just to get updates, and the information I received was inconsistent and misleading. The owner, Cecil, made unprofessional remarks such as “this car is not worth much” in relation to the diagnostic fee I had already paid at the other shop. After all the delays and poor communication, Cecil eventually offered me a refund. When I went to pick up the refund, the young lady at the front desk was very unprofessional—no greeting, no apology, no “thank you” or “have a nice day.” The lack of basic courtesy was disappointing. Overall, the lack of honesty, professionalism, and communication was unacceptable. I will not be returning and would caution others before trusting this shop.
Called to inquire about having a service done here and the man on the phone was so incredibly rude. I will absolutely never bring this place my business after that interaction. No basic customer service skills nor human decency..acted like I was a bother to him. No way to talk to a customer let alone a woman.
