Grease Monkey

I came in today expecting to get an oil change and tire rotation. I don't drive very much...maybe a couple thousand miles a year. But everyone tells you that you need to get your oil changed every 5k miles or every 6-8 months -- whichever comes sooner! Well, I only have about 2.6k miles on my Subaru, and as soon as the tech heard that he said, "You don't need an oil change! I'll check for you, but you shouldn't need one until you hit 5k miles." Lo and behold...my oil still looked brand new, even though it had been 8 months since I got it first changed. The tech was very nice and explained that 5k is the minimum, especially on a brand new car, and that I just needed to check it everyone once in a while in case it needs a top-off. He checked all the other fluids (coolant, window washing), and topped off the washer fluid for me. Very friendly and honest staff here. I guess that's how you keep your loyal regulars and become the neighborhood mechanic. I'll be recommending this shop to everyone.

Quick and easy and the staff are helpful and accommodating. I come here for all my oil changes. They even have the extended life synthetic oil for high mileage cars. If I need an oil or coolant top-off between changes, they are happy to do it at no charge. I love these guys. They also replace bulbs and wipers. Nice waiting area w bathroom, free drinks, and next to Mc Donald’s.

Prompt, professional, efficient, consistent. This place is the real deal! So friendly and polite, they quickly got through my oil change and thorough car inspection while I stayed in the clean, comfy waiting room with fresh coffee and complimentary beverages. This was my second time at this location and second oil change with my car, they were awesome at going through the inspection and answering my questions. The reminders and coupons are a big bonus too. Last time I had my dog with me so they took a photo that was posted to I Seagram and gave him a Petco gift card! I don’t dread going to the shop anymore. Highly recommend!

Was going to cherry blossom festival and saw this shop with my car asking for oil change. They did amazing job. Very friendly people. Kudos to all hardworking people here. You won my heart

I am writing this review based on a few times i have been to this business. The manager Sid, and Kevin are two of the most honest and thorough mechanics i have ever met. When i take my car there i feel like im having my uncles take care of it. Those two run this business exceptionally well with a high standard of integrity. They provide a much needed service with honesty and extensive knowledge. I will be a customer for as long as those two at this location. Thank you very much for the multiple services this business provided correctly.

I have been to Grease Monkey a few times in the last month, to have my brakes and rotors replaced, an oil change, and most recently a new battery. During my brakes and oil change visit, we were treated with kindness and they even gave my dog a petco gift card as we waited. Today I had to return as my car battery had died. I have received the runaround from different service providers, but everyone today at Grease Monkey (thank you specifically, Kyle!) made sure I was well taken care of. What could have been super stressful because of a few factors, ended up being completely okay. I'm so thankful that they are so willing to help!

$160 for a basic oil change. THIS IS NOT AN EXAGGERATION. I appreciate the customer service and the helpfulness of the team members working there when they talked me through the options and the prices. However if you go down the road, to the other location, the price goes down SUBSTANTIALLY. $90 for a basic oil change. And so I went to the Ballard location, got the same level of service that this one advertised, and provided a great review for them as well. I had to go on a Sunday and this was one of the only spots in Seattle metro area with Sunday open hours. If you’re not in a rush, wait to go to Jiffy Lube for $70 or less.

I have been a customer of this location since I moved to this neighborhood 18 months ago. I was two blocks away with a flat. I had a screw in my tire. I have had a patch done at this location before. I pulled in to get help and they told me the guy who could help wasn’t in. Then they said because I drove on it, they wouldn’t help. I asked if someone could help me at least get the spare on since I was SOL, they said no. I suppose they didn’t owe me service, but they do employ the type of men who stand and watch a woman struggle to change her own tire in the rain. Long gone are the shops that help a customer and neighbor. Update: The owner of the shop called. He was apologetic, kind, and I believe he hopes for better care of his customers. It means a lot that he took the time to reach out.

I have used Grease Monkey at UV a number of times for different services. However, we had a brake job done less than a year ago. Since then we have spent another $1,000 getting the work (pads / rotors) replaced & resurfaced. The fronts in June and just now the rears. We are now at 9,000 miles since the work was done by Grease monkey. As a result, I am compelled to tell you not to have brakes done at this shop. I’m angry and feel ripped off. It is my only conclusion after talking with other mechanics. Females beware. Best advice is go elsewhere.

My experience at Grease Monkey was utterly disappointing and has led me to strongly caution others against trusting them with their vehicles. Upon arriving for an oil change, an employee claimed they couldn’t service my car because they didn’t stock the necessary filter. Having serviced my car there multiple times before, I knew this was false and challenged the statement. The employee then admitted his manager instructed him to say they didn’t have the filter, revealing a troubling lack of honesty. The manager eventually confirmed they did have the filter in stock but, rather than offering an apology, directed me to move to a different open lane despite the one I was in being completely free. This pointless runaround and clear incompetence eroded any trust I had in their ability to properly service my vehicle, prompting me to leave. Worse yet, upon reviewing my previous service paperwork from Grease Monkey, I discovered they used the wrong oil—0W-20 instead of the manufacturer-required 0W-40. They had assured me the oil was correct, but this error could have serious consequences for my engine. Since that service, I’ve noticed my oil levels depleting unusually quickly, requiring frequent top-ups. I strongly suspect their mistake may have caused engine damage. I plan to have my vehicle thoroughly inspected by my dealer and will pursue appropriate measures to address any potential harm caused by their negligence. I urge anyone who cares about their vehicle to avoid Grease Monkey. Their dishonesty, poor communication, critical errors, and apparent disregard for proper service make them an unreliable and risky choice.
