About Metro Motor

Metro Motor (Georgetown/Baltimore-area locations) has held customers for over a decade with honest, fast work - a dealership's major milestone service got undercut on price when Metro repriced it, Kaleb's crew stayed after hours to finish a car, and Jamie won't sell you what you don't need. Bumper-to-bumper inspections come bundled with oil changes.

Two difficult reviews describe a roller-coaster maintenance saga and a tow-in gone wrong; the decade-long pattern still tilts heavily positive. Rated 4.8 across 550 reviews.

I did the “wait for car” option for an oil change and bumper to bumper inspection (included in the oil change). They were very fast, pleasant to work with and helpful. Competitive pricing as well, i didn’t feel overcharged or anything of that nature. I will be returning when it’s time for another service, if I have any issues and for new tires :) thank you!!

Outstanding customer service. We’ve gone to Metro Motor for oil changes for years. After taking our car to the dealership for a major milestone service, I called Metro Motor. We talked through the recommendations and costs from the dealership and Kaleb assured me he could do it cheaper. Throughout the service Kaleb maintained great communication on updates. Overall he accomplished everything the dealership suggested for a cheaper price. Kaleb and the team have always been so kind and take time to explain things.

Very easy service appointment. Asked for an oil change but the technician searched the car’s service record and found some additional items that needed attention. I am grateful he did that because not the car’s service record is up to date.

I cannot say enough about the service shop and more importantly their employees! They were friendly and professional, and were extremely knowledgable. They were one of only two gas stations in Georgetown so I did not know what to expect, but my assumptions were that it would not be an easy experience. To my surprise, the place was fabulous! They worked with me and we were able to get me up and running so I could get to my awaiting client meeting. 10 Stars!

Jamie is awesome, knowledgeable and not trying to sell you what you don’t need. Prices are comparable to other shops of the same caliber, quality work and quick service. He’s honest, recently told me I need a high ticket service to fix my AC and despite the price (older car with more rare parts to find) I will be taking my Car back to Metro Motors! I love to support my local neighborhood auto shop! They’ve never let me down, HIGHLY recommend

My experience with Metro Motor (MM) was a roller coaster ride! First of all, I admit that since my husband’s death, I have let my car maintenance lapse, but it was still a shock when my car wouldn’t start. I dreaded dealing with shady mechanics but I started calling around to find a shop. My first call was to Woody at the Capitol Hill location. I suspected that a sun roof leak that I neglected was to blame and Woody was quick to skip past resolving the issue preventing my car from starting and made a snarky comment that I needed to fix the leaky sunroof. Yes, obviously I do and the comment was only made to chastise me when I’m already stressed and feeling overwhelmed by a car that won’t start on a 100-degree day. To make matters worse, he said that the diagnostic fee would be $200. I said that was a bit steep and he defended the cost by saying “this is what you’ll pay anywhere else.” After calling a few other shops, I decided to call a different Metro Motors location, so I contacted Kaleb at the Georgetown location. The difference was night and day. Kaleb had the empathy and professionalism that Woody lacked. He didn’t talk down to me and he quoted a $50 diagnostic fee. I do not understand how Woody’s price is 4 times higher than another MM location, it seems as if he was out to take advantage of someone he knew was in a pinch and assumed wasn’t savvy enough to question pricing. I had roadside assistance come to tow the car, but first the driver attempted a jump start but it just wouldn’t take a charge so he had to tow it to MM for an afterhours drop off. The next morning I spoke to Kaleb and explained that the road side assistance person said my battery was the issue (so not the sunroof leak) and that I’d like him to explore both possibilities. We discussed the $50 diagnostic, testing/charging the battery and clearing the sunroof clog. To my surprise when we spoke again, he informed me that he had changed my oil. I said I was disappointed that this was done without consent and he said “I was doing you a favor.” My car was about 300 miles past due for an oil change, but I planned on having my uncle handle that and he going to do it for FREE. How is servicing my car on my dime a favor? By the time I was able to pick my car up, Kaleb was gone. The next day I called and asked for my diagnostic results and Kaleb said he didn’t do the diagnostic. When I asked what he did, he explained he had only cleared the sunroof leak and charged the battery. I asked if he ran a test to see if the battery needed replacing since it died out of the blue for no reason, he said he didn’t because “I must have left something on”. I admit I have neglected maintenance, but I’m not in the habit of leaving anything on that will drain my car battery. I am 100% positive that I didn’t leave anything on, which is why I thought the leak shorted something. He began explaining all possibilities, an open door, dome light, etc. I can remember a time when 17-year-old me had no idea how leaving the lights on would drain a car battery, 50-year-old me learned that lesson in the 90s. So now I’m coming to the understanding that Kaleb decided to change my oil without consent, failed to complete the diagnostic that we agreed on, and didn’t bother to test a faulty battery because he ASSUMED I left something on, even though he didn’t bother to call and confirm this. His defense was that the only reason the battery would die is if something was left on. Incorrect, all batteries die eventually when they are at the end of their lifespan. He charged it and the charge held, but driving around with an expiring battery in this heat isn’t smart, yet that’s what he decided for me. Now I have to go get my battery tested, possibly replace it and I’d like the diagnostic test for my own peace of mind since I drive around a lot for my job. I will not be returning to Metro Motors in the future. I’m grateful for the jump, but overall my experience was highly disappointing.

DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE!! My car broke down and I got it towed here with AAA because the AAA person said this was a certified repair shop with them instead of my regular mechanic up in Baltimore… should have just done the further tow. They quoted me 1300 dollars for a job that should have been 500-700 dollars. 200+ dollars an hour of labor and if that sounds expensive it’s because it is. After getting the estimate I called my shop and just decided to pay for a tow which in order to get it out of there I still had to pay close to 250 dollars for their diagnostic check which I guarantee was just plugging in an oem reader. I’m happy to pay for a tow to get the money into the hands of honest people. Update: took my car to another mechanic and they are saying it’s a transmission issues as well. The new shop doesn’t work on transmissions and suggested I take my truck to the dealership to get the transmission and fuel pump fixed. Leading me to believe Metro Motor wanted me to fix the fuel pump to get their money out of me then to get it towed off to another place to fix the transmission. Watch out for these guys.

I came in just for an oil change and a rotation. This shop attempted to get me to pay over $1000 on five different unrelated services, saying if I don't buy them it could jeopardize the life of my car's engine. One was rear differential fluid for $200. I drive a Honda HR-V FWD, which doesnt even have differential fluid (it uses CVT fluid for the front gears). That alone should tell you to never go to this place. Next, they said I need new spark plugs. My car is not even at 50k miles, and the manufacturer recommendation is around 100k miles. I called other repair shops and they laughed when I told them this. They did the same thing for coolant, which Honda says you dont need the first flush until 10 years or 120,000 miles. Never coming back here. Price assessment
