About Quality Inspection Center
Quality Inspection Center in Raleigh does one thing: North Carolina state inspections, plus wipers. That focus is the appeal - reviewers say there is no upselling of any kind, no appointment needed, and typically no line even on a Saturday morning. Under fifteen minutes, in and out, roughly $30 at the last reported price. Robert earns repeated mentions, and one customer notes they don't answer the phone, so just show up first-come, first-served.
The consistent complaint is window tint. Several drivers say they were failed for tint that passed elsewhere, or passed here the year before - one alleges an illegal overcharge for it. If your windows are tinted, expect scrutiny and maybe a second opinion. Rated 4.1 stars across 94 Google reviews.
Reported smog check price: $30.00. Prices can change; call to confirm.

Very quick and easy experience. I came in on a Saturday around 10:00 am without an appointment, and there was no line. In and out in under 10 minutes.
Been in two years in a row and both times have had a quick and affordable inspection with incredibly kind technicians.
Quality place. Helpful. Don't bother calling, they normally won't answer, first come, first served. Robert is great!
I take all my cars here. They only do inspections and windshield wipers. There is no upselling of any kind. They provide fast, courteous, professional service. I've been there probably 30 (4 cars ) times, and I don't think I've ever spent more than 15 minutes at any one time.
I waited till the last minute to do an inspection đŁ, went to my usual mechanics and it was way to packed to fit me in for the day. Said that itâd be really hard to schedule me in unless I show up right when they open, but that wouldnât fit with my work schedule. I found this place because everyone was saying they were speedy - and they definitely are! I was in the waiting room for maybe 5-10 minutes. The mechanics were very friendly and helpful too. Would recommend this place to everyone!
Very good experience. Went in yesterday (10/6/16) for a state inspection. You drive up, they take your car, there is a waiting room and within 10 minutes, or maybe 5, they were done! It costs like 14 for state inspection and then they charged me another 10 for tint testing. I obviously would have preferred not to have that extra charge against me but considering it was so fast, I'm fine with it.
Will not come back here: they overcharged me for âwindow tintâ on my state inspection, which is illegal. My vehicle was purchased in NC and has always had just regular factory tinted windows (not after-market). Iâve owned it since 2020 and my usual auto repair & maintenance shop has never charged me more than the standard $30 inspection fee.
Failed me for window tint even though the same exact guy passed it last year. I suggest going on a Friday afternoon when itâs just the long haired kid and no manager.
I hope this place gets closed and gets banned from doing the state inspection. They failed me for my window tint, saying that my tint is too dark. My inspection would have passed in other inspection places however they failed me stating that my window tint is too dark. I am pretty sure their tint machine is broken or not working properly. I went to another inspection place and got my inspection passed. Skip this place at all cost. I would give this place a negative ratings if I could.
