About Arlington Autocare

Arlington Autocare in Baltimore has held customers for a decade-plus on troubleshooting skill - an '07 Camry that's been coming since new, a truck whose fried battery mimicked a dead starter, second opinions that reversed other shops' expensive recommendations. Kristoff and Charles get named for communication, and there's a military discount that softened a surprise $20 bulb charge during one inspection.

Maryland vehicle inspections are part of the mix here. The negative reviews are pointed - a tire patch that dragged for days and a disputed Jeep repair estimate - so bring questions for big-ticket work. Rated 4.4 across 1,200 reviews.

Reported smog check price: $150.00. Prices can change; call to confirm.

I've been taking my '07 Camry to this shop for inspections and repair since it rolled off the lot. Their mechanics are brilliant troubleshooters. I do most of my own work, but when I'm stumped or need special expertise, these are the guys I go to. The estimates are honest & accurate and the prices are fair.

I got stuck in a messy situation with my truck when I was visiting Arlington. A fried battery have us all convinced that the starter was the issue. Having it towed to Arlington auto care, the team there was very quick and thorough and honest. Getting to work on my car a day earlier than thought, Doing a step-by-step diagnostic to find where the issue was, And most importantly, holding back on work that I had already approved, once they deemed it was not necessary. Saving me $1000. Huge shout out to Kevin working the front desk. He is extremely polite and accommodating. And another shout out to the technician in the back, Prince. He had the Patience and experience to double and triple check all of the issues so that we knew I had a sound truck to get back to Charleston,South Carolina.

I've been taking all my cars to Arlington Autocare for about a decade and have always had a good experience. They are attentive, responsible, fast, and honest. They explain everything well, and I don't feel like they're trying to sell me some service/parts I don't need. They also maintain good communication, letting me know if there's an issue, what they're working on, and when my car is going to be ready/is ready. I'm satisfied with their work and will keep taking my cars to be serviced there.

Kristoff is extremely tentative to his customers. Whenever I have an emergency they always get me in as soon as possible and communicate with me while they have my vehicle. I’ve been coming here for a year and as a woman it’s great not having to think so much when coming to the mechanic and trust your car is in good hands haha. Thank you!

Great. Very nice people here. I was surprised to replace a bulb during an inspection was 20$. But they hooked the military discount. So I cannot complain. Front desk are nice too. Will be going back again.

Great service, very happy with the extensive repairs that were done on our older car. I really appreciate Charles, who did a comprehensive comparison before we had the work done of the recommended repairs another auto repair place had given us. The price came out much lower with Arlington Autocare. And it was all done in one day. Much appreciated!

The technicians I spoke to and worked with were very honest. I brought my car to them for a second opinion and they confirmed that the previous shop recommended unnecessary work on top of work I did need and at the fraction of the price without sacrificing quality. They are very reasonably priced and have been honest and explain the work they did to you so you understand what is going on with your car, for those inquiring minds like myself. Honesty brings loyal customers who will recommend more business via word of mouth. Thank you to Cristoff, Mohammad, and Pierre for helping me.

first of all they are overpriced. second when they're done with their work, i noticed some extremely rough idling. they refused to take a second look at it, so i checked it by myself. turned out that they left a piece of wood next to my engine. UPDATE: they acknowledged the problem and solved it. they also informed me that when i first picked up the car they overcharged me for $150 and they now corrected that

Terrible experience. Went to get a simple tire patch and they said it would be ready by EOD. I had to head back home and said I would get it in the morning. Called in the morning they said by 9am they would call me. Called again 1:30 to check in said they were working on it. Show up at 4pm and they hadn’t even pulled it around. Just took my car down the street!

Get a second opinion! Even one star feels generous. My experience with Arlington Autocare was infuriating. I specifically had my 2021 Jeep Cherokee towed there because it was the closest AAA-approved shop after it began leaking radiator fluid and smoking. Throughout the process, David repeatedly referenced their AAA affiliation as reassurance that their recommendations and pricing could be trusted. The next day, I was told the radiator needed to be replaced at a cost of more than $2,200. They then added that my brakes and rotors were so worn that it would be unsafe to even drive the vehicle across the street for a second opinion, bringing the total recommended repairs to over $3,400. Something didn't feel right, so I contacted several other AAA-approved repair shops and a Jeep dealership. After providing my VIN and relaying the same issues Arlington Auto described, every shop quoted me significantly less for the radiator repair. I ultimately paid to have the Jeep towed to A.F. Auto Repair for a second opinion. Not only did they replace the radiator for nearly half of what Arlington Auto quoted, but the mechanic also told me that my brakes and rotors appeared to be in good condition based on everything visible during his inspection. The most concerning part came when I discovered my wheel lock key was missing. I called Arlington Auto, and they said they couldn't locate it either. When I relayed this to my new mechanic, he explained that without the wheel lock key, the tires could not have been removed. That means Arlington Auto would have been unable to inspect any brake or rotor components that aren't visible with the wheels on. In other words, if they never removed the tires, it's unclear how they could have confidently concluded that my brakes and rotors were unsafe and needed immediate replacement. To make matters worse, we later realized my mother had a similar experience there a few months earlier. She brought her vehicle in for an A/C issue and was also told her brakes were unsafe and needed immediate replacement. Based on my experience, I would strongly recommend getting a second opinion before authorizing any major repairs at this shop.

This store is a piece of art—in all the wrong ways. 1. Safety negligence: When my partner picked up my car, it was shaking heavily. My partner asked for another inspection on the spot, but they dismissed his concerns and claimed it was “normal.” 2. Carelessness: After driving home, my partner and I discovered a piece of wood left lodged between the engine and the frame—most likely the cause of the shaking. We returned to the shop and insisted they take responsibility, which they reluctantly acknowledged. 3. Dishonest billing: They charged us for a new valve cover that was never installed. The second time we went back to the store, we asked for a partial refund due to the mechanic’s mistake. The next day, the manager called and offered a refund—but only for the valve cover, not for the issue caused by the piece of wood. So, one mistake was addressed while the other was ignored! This shop shows a consistent pattern of negligence, carelessness, and questionable billing practices. I would not recommend trusting them with your vehicle—or your money.
