About DC DMV Vehicle Self-Inspection Kiosk
DC DMV's self-inspection kiosk (listing maps to the DC area) saves the trip downtown - under five minutes on a quiet Saturday 10am, step-by-step prompts, and even lines move efficiently. Know where your OBD port is and it's smooth sailing.
Google Maps pins it slightly off, so watch for the actual location. Rated 3.9 across 146 reviews.

It always takes me a moment to find the right part of the car to plug in. But it's a super simple system. It beats going downtown! Super easy to use!
The amount of time saved by having this convenient location vs going down to the DMV is significant. The tool is easy to use and I was in and out of there in under 10 minutes.
Although there was a line, this was a very efficient way to do inspections. Once you locate your OBD port, it is smooth sailing. I would highly recommend this self-service inspection station, and I appreciate that DC has set his up. Much more convenient than going downtown.
Very user friendly, step by step explanation, can't go wrong. Went there on Saturday morning (~10am), no one else was there, done in 5 min. Note that google maps says "your destination is on the right", it's actually on the left once you enter the lot.
I had a good experience using the Self Inspection station. It wasn't busy, and it took me under 5 minutes to use. As others have mentioned, make sure you know your VIN and where your OBD is.
Pretty good quick and easy but it was hard to find. The address on google and tgeir website takes you to tge kiddie park. They should use a better address. You can figure out where it is once you get on 3rd street. You will not find it on Van Buren street.
I don’t usually write reviews but I feel this is such a positive use of public funds that I want to make sure I say that. I tend to procrastinate on things like this, which made this option extremely helpful to me. Super quick and easy, I’d recommend googling where the OBD II port is in your car before going as that made it extra quick and painless. It’s about a 25 minute drive from me, so I just went early in the morning on a weekday & stopped at Donut Run on my way home since I never have the opportunity to be up that way.
The phrase "If it's too good to be true it probably isn't", does not apply to this kiosk. This is definitely too good to be true yet here it is. No line, no wait, no hassle, just drive up enter your VIN number, connect your OBD-II port to the kiosk and you're done in about 5 minutes or less. And I did it on a Monday when DC emissions was not even open.
Very easy to use. Worked well. Love that you can go anytime and it takes 5-6 minutes. No line. Just make sure you know where your port and VIN bar code are beforehand. Saves a lot of time
Nice and easy. I'm actually surprised this worked without any issues. I was very hesitant, I'm glad the city is offering more services to streamline the inspection process. This is a great improvement over the one inspection station down in the Navy Yard.
